If you’ve asked all of the important questions and have decided that you’re ready to take the next step, make sure that you’ve been allowed to tour the actual apartment that you’ll be renting. You don’t want to be surprised when you show up on move-in day and you’re given the keys to the unit that is right next to the busy highway when you thought you were getting the one next to the pool.

Are Pets Allowed?

The last thing you want to do is find a place that you love and then find out that you can’t bring your furry best friend. It can be a deal-breaker if the apartment you are looking at has a no pets policy. You’ll also want to be sure to get the details surrounding the rules for pets. Some places have a size limit for dogs. Most places allow cats and dogs, but if you have something a little more unusual like a pot-belly pig, chances are you’re going to have a harder time trying to find a place.

If the place that you’re looking to rent allows pets, get specific information on what the additional cost will be. Most places will require you to pay a deposit and a monthly fee on top of the usual rent. Pay special attention to the extra cost for Fido, because you’ll want to make sure that it won’t put you over your budget.
